Løkken or Loekken is the place if you want a nice and stressless vacation in Denmark. It doesn't matter if you are going as a family, a group or with friends - Løkken is the place to go.
On the hot summer days the town is full of tourists enjoying the many shops, bars and restaurants in the pedestrian street and on the beautiful white sand beach it is easy to find a spot on your own in the nice sand dunes.
The People
People from North Jutland are known for their laid back and easy going attitude. We speak in a very distinguished dialect, that only few understand. To hear the dialect you need to talk to some people from the countryside, like farmers and such. Some from my school even put on the dialect at home and spoke without the dialect in the more normal dialect that everybody understands.
We are very kind and true - but we also like to make a good deal in a hand shake. We are known to work illegally without paying taxes - therefore we are known to have a lot of cars with a coblet for a trailer for the illegal building materials that many are using to "help a friend " - the people from Sealand that joke about us call the coblet on the car for a "jydekrog"
which means: jyde = a guy from Jutland, Krog = hook - so we have those a lot ;O))
Off Season
When its not summer time its also an experience to have a stay in Løkken. Experience for instance the sea on the west coast when a storm is at. Its just crazy sometimes, when the foam from the sea flies in the street, we know we are catching a good wind - were happy this mostly happens in the winter and sometimes late fall and only on rare occations - not more than everywhere else.. Many attractions are open all winter and some days in a holiday house is a nice experience.
